WHO’S BEEN DOING AWESOME THINGS?

Congratulations to all the Vikings who ran in the Sri Chinmoy Canberra Day Fun Run and a special mention to Narelle Desmet who was 2nd female overall. It has been perfect weather for morning rides and runs, thanks to all the Vikings sharing posts inviting others along for the ride/run.

GOOD FRIDAY RIDE

Hi sports bunnies.

If you are around on Friday and fancy a pedal followed by a coffee, then let’s leave from the top Brew Bar at 8am.

I’m thinking  3 peaks – Red Hill, Mt Pleasant, Arboretum, back to Tuggeranong.  This is about 60 – 65 km – will take at least till 11:00 depending.

Coffee after at Little Istanbul!
Cheers Geoff

Tuggeranong parkrun

Results for parkrun 19 March – OK, autumn is finally here. With the temperature sitting around 7 or 8 degrees, 283 Tuggeranong parkrunners did their parkrunday thing, 8 of them were Vikings. On the other side of town we had 1 Viking at Ginninderra and 1 Viking at Gungahlin. There was, as always, a good number of Viking spouses, partners, kids and others also parkrunning, with PB’s to a mini Trussler and a mini McIntyre.

In Tuggeranong, Rebecca D PB’ed chopping more than 20 seconds off, and Nick took a big hunk off his Ginninderra PB.

Don’t forget your barcode #dfyb.

For those who may be concerned, YES, parkrun WILL be on next weekend, there may(?) be Easter eggs there!

All this week’s Tuggeranong results are on the parkrun website.

And here are some parkrun fun facts. For those whom are familiar with the location of Bushy parkrun (the birthplace of parkrun, but you already knew that), it is located in Bushy Park, west of London. The park houses the Diana Fountain, and no, it’s not THAT Diana, the fountain is dedicated to the Roman Goddess Diana, and was built in the 1630’s. The suburb adjacent to the park has the quaint name Teddington, which is where Keira Knightley comes from.

Volunteers are important for the parkrun to go smoothly. If you are having a rest day or have time please consider volunteering.

Vikings Triathlon Club is the largest club on the Tuggeranong parkrun list with 132 parkrunners! Club list. You can view all our members who have done the parkrun on their website. Vikings Club history. To have your name added to our list above, go to the details page on the parkrun and add your club.

The parkrun is free – yep, it costs nothing! It is aimed at all types of runners and walkers, from juniors and first timers to Olympians and nonagenarians. Whilst I won’t be running, for those who missed me last week, I’ll be parkwalking this week! Please register before your first run, and you only ever register with parkrun once. Then remember to take a printed copy of your barcode to any of the more than 150 Australian, or around 800 parkruns worldwide.

Motivational quote No 11

SOME OF THE BEST RUNS COME ON DAYS YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE RUNNING.

Have a great Easter everyone. For those leaving Canberra safe travels.

Cheers
