Regardless of your current fitness level or sporting abilities, this program is a friendly and welcoming way of getting started in the sport of triathlon or simply to improve your fitness.

 

VIKINGS NOVICE PROGRAM 2017 INFORMATION

Summary of the program: 

Program:  Vikings Triathlon Novice Program 2017/18 Tri Season

Duration:  10 Week program of coaching and introduction to the four disciplines of triathlon – swimming, cycling, running, and transition. 

Dates:  Commencing 18 September 2017 and finishes with the first race of the season on 26 November 2017

After the Program:  The Vikings Triathlon Club is unique in offering its Next Steps Program immediately after the completion of its Novice Program.  This program is designed to get you across the gap between completing enticer/novice level triathlons, and the Sprint distance of 750 m open water swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run. This is done by combining program specific coaching sessions and support, with our established club training sessions. Information is available at the Vikings Club Website.

 

The program will cost $250 Adult / $150 Junior, plus the entry fees for any races, which have to be paid for individually. For more information on these events, please visit the Triathlon ACT website, the costs for events and Novices are still to be decided by TACT.

Included in the program cost is:

  • Membership of the Vikings Triathlon Club
  • Membership of Triathlon ACT
  • Membership of Triathlon Australia
  • Insurance
  • Club merchandise
  • Information sessions
  • Plus fabulous coaching from our experienced team of certified coaches.

NB: Juniors aged 16 -18 are welcome (with the consent of a parent)

Training sessions (venues to be advised):

Mondays – 6.30pm – swimming sessions;

Tuesdays – 6.00am – running intervals;

Saturdays – 8.00am – cycling; and

Sundays – 8.00am – long slow distance running.

Key dates are:

Information night: Monday, 4 September 2017, to be held at the Vikings Club Town Centre in the Kevin Hamilton room at 7.30pm;

Meet and greet drinks: Sunday, 17 September 2017;

First swimming session: Monday, 18 September 2017 (please note there will be no swimming sessions held on Public Holiday Mondays, 25 September and 2 October);

First interval running session: Tuesday, 19 September 2017;

First cycling session: Saturday, 23 September 2017;

First long slow distance run: Sunday, 24 September 2017;

First race: Sunday, 26 November 2017!!

All registrations will be via Active.com.

Please note that the Novice Program is limited to the first 25 registrations.

As part of the novice program, you will become a Triathlon ACT (TACT) and Triathlon Australia (TA) member.

Vikings Group memberships

Before joining the Vikings Triathlon club, we strongly encourage you to become a member of the Vikings Club Group.

1 Year Memberships or renewals are only $8.00, which entitles you access to all four Vikings Venues! Just visit any club reception, Erindale, Chisholm, Town Centre, Lanyon or fill out the membership form online and you can join for only $8.00! All the details are on the Vikings Group website.

Important: You will need your Vikings Group membership number for one of the questions after you log on to the Triathlon Australia Annual Memberships Registration page.
